Alain LeFebvre, President

Alain LeFebvre, President

 

Al was born and raised in Prince George, receiving his university training at Simon Fraser University, graduating in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts (Commerce Major, Economics Major).  Al attained membership in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia in 1982.  In 1991, Al obtained a Master of Business Administration from City University.  In 1983, Al took the position of Deputy Treasurer for the City of Prince George.  In 1990, Al was hired by the newly enacted University of Northern British Columbia as its Director of Finance and worked there until 1995, leaving to move into public practice.  Al is married (Susan) and has a disabled son (Tyler) and a daughter (Thea).  Al is a Rotarian and past president of the Rotary Club of Prince George-Nechako.  He is also the current Treasurer of the BCACL (British Columbia Association for Community Living).

Brenda has been a member of AiMHi's Board of Directors for over eight years and previously served as a Community Representative to the Executive Committee.  Professionally, Brenda is a former Senior Account Manager, Commercial Markets for the Royal Bank's Commercial Banking Centre.  She was raised in Prince George and she and her husband Gary have one son.  Brenda feels it is important for all people to pursue their dreams.  This belief drives her to be a strong proponent of Community Living.

Gary Godwin, Director

Gary Godwin, Director

 

Gary was born in Montreal and presently lives in Prince George with his wife and their two daughters. A former member of the RCMP for thirty-two years, Gary's wide range of experience makes him a valuable addition to the Board of Directors. He spent the last seven years of his tenure involved in Community Policing. He implemented the "Block Watch" Program in Prince George in 1989.  Gary's other interests include wrestling, and eighteen year association with Kelly Road Gospel Chapel and the task of chauffeuring his daughters' team in pursuit of their numerous sporting activities.

Rory has served on the Board of Directors of AiMHi for the last ten years.  During this period he served one-year in the position of Treasurer and six years as President.  He is active on the Executive and Finance Committees.  Rory taught in School District #57 for more than thirty-five years, at Duchess Park, College Heights, PGSS and as the Coordinator of Career Program for School District #57.  Rory is now retired.  Rory is married and has two children, Amy and Alex.  Alex has a developmental disability.  Rory served on the Board of Directors of the Child Development Centre for six years when Alex was younger.  Currently, Rory is the President of the BCACL (British Columbia Association for Community Living).

Guy was born in La Tuque, Quebec and presently lives in Prince George with his daughter Stephanie and son Nicholas. Guy has been a member of the RCMP for thirty years. Guy has a wide variety of experience in the RCMP including mediation, human resources, and is currently the Officer in Charge of Prince George City Traffic Services. Guy will bring a different perspective to the AiMHi Board as his daughter is challenged and currently utilizing AiMHi’s services. He has served on the Board of Directors for a Strata Co-op in Regina. In his spare time, Guy enjoys hunting, fishing, the great outdoors, and traveling.

Holly moved to Prince George from New Brunswick.  She holds a Master of Applied Science degree from the University of Waterloo.  She lives with her husband and daughter.  Holly has worked as a School Psychologist for School District # 57 since 1986.  She has a wide range of experience working with students with special needs and is keenly interested in promoting the rights and interests of individuals with special needs.

Vince was raised in the Interior of BC, Francois Lake to be more specific and spent 15 years in Vancouver.  He graduated from Langara College and attended Emily Carr College of Art and Design.  Vince moved to Prince George in 1995 with his wife Michelle who spends her days as a teacher.  They have two children, an 8 year old son and 13 year old daughter.  Vince worked at the Prince George Free Press for 4 years before being hired with Denis and Muntener Advertising, now Concept Design Ltd.  After 10 years with the company as a graphic designer, Vince became a partner in 2009.

Lorelei (Dolly) Hilton, Director

Dolly is an investment advisor with RBC Dominion Securities in Prince George.  She has been employed by the Royal Bank Financial Group for 31 years and enjoys the long term relationships she has built with her clients and colleagues.  Dolly enjoys living in Prince George and has raised two sons here.  She has been involved in several charities and community projects, feeling that this is a good way to give back to her community.  Dolly has organized the Wills, Estates, Trusts and RDSP presentations at AiMHi the past 5-6 years.  Dolly enjoys gardening, travelling and is actively trying to improve her golf game.

Paul Raines, Director

Paul Raines, Director

 

Paul moved to Prince George in 1973.  He holds a Bachelor's degree in Education (Physical Education) from the University of British Columbia and a Master's degree in Administration.  Paul worked for the School District No. 57 from January 1974 to December 2005.  Part of Paul's tenure was in Mackenzie where he served as a resource class school principal in the 1980's and also assisted in setting up a CDC outreach preschool program in his school there.  As a teacher and school principal, Paul has a wealth of experience, over 35 years with children in the educational system including special need students.  Paul's younger child is a person with disabilities and so he brings a special needs parent perspective to the position.

Fred's career path started with the Warden Service at Yoho National Park and progressed through aviation and more recently the Retail Automotive sector.  During his aviation career, he was fortunate to fly various helicopters in India, Thailand, China, Scotland and throughout Canada.  This part of Fred's career provided him with a great opportunity to interact with very interesting people and fascinating but diverse cultures.  As his career evolved through management positions, he had the opportunity to work in other foreign countries including Sudan, Chile, Argentina, Peru and return assignments to China and India.  Fred's travel provided unforgettable experiences with a great number of people however wanting to spend more time with his family ultimately led to establishing Prince George as their home as well as a new career for Fred in the automotive retail sector.  Fred's wife, Sheila, is a "Partner" is a well established CA firm in Prince George and their daughter, Caitlin attends DP Todd Secondary School.  They have lived in Prince George for the past thirteen years.  Being "at home" allows Fred the opportunity to "give a little back" to the "community" that has provided their family with a great lifestyle.  Fred was fortunate to have participated on the AiMHi Board of Directors and looks forward to participating with this amazing organization again.

Mary Parkin, Director

 

Mary Parkin has served in the Community Living field since 1988.  17 years were in Community Living Services (CLS) for MCFD and 1 year with CLBC when CLS became a Crown Agency.  Mary began her career in this field as a social worker, followed by positions as resource worker, staff trainer, team leader and manager for the North Region 2000-2005 with responsibility for government services for people with developmental disAbilities and children with special needs and their families.  Mary then served as the CLBC Quality Service Manager for the North Region 2005-2006 responsible for government contracts for this client group.  While in the position of Manager, Mary worked closely and collaboratively with AiMHi and this relationship was seen as a model for the Province.  Mary holds the degrees of BA, BSW and MSW from the University of British Columbia and has made her home in Prince George since 1997.

Ruth Stanton, Self-Advocate Director

 

Ruth originally resided in Cranbrook, moving to Prince George 5 years ago.  Ruth is a member of the Prince George Self-Advocate's Caucus; she has been an active member for the past two years.  Currently, Ruth is a member of the Community Living BC (CLBC) - Prince George Community Council.  She is always interested in learning more and sharing what she has learned with other self-advocates here in BC.
